Day 29 • Mount Vernon to South Bend • 216 mi
After 2,200 miles in the last 7 days, I needed a break. The original plan was to head over through Olympic National Park, but no plan survives contact with the asphalt.
I-5 is the last ditch option for finishing this trip. Superslab is no fun at all: straight, windy, crowded, dangerous, boring. But if I got horribly behind, two or three of the worst days of my life would get me there.
Taking it just through Seattle was a okay compromise, though.
I got to see my friend for the first time in six years (hi SuFey! I forgot to take a picture of us) in Seattle and my grandmother in Puyallup.
From there, a short 2.5 hours due west and south got us to the Washington coast.
Why hello, Pacific Ocean, I haven't seen you in five whole days.
