Day 14 • Hatcher Pass Road to Tok • 288 mi

The first 80 miles of the Glenn Highway out of Palmer might be the best motorcycle tarmac in the state. (Have I said that before?)

Fast corners, slow corners, good pavement, all with sweeping views out over the Matanuska River.

If I didn't have somewhere to be, I might still be there.

The great section ends with the Matanuska glacier.

From there on, it's only mostly great.

After the Glenn Highway, I traveled up the Tok Cutoff to Tok.

If you want to drive into or out of Alaska, you're going to go through Tok. The Alaska Highway passes right through, so I said hi, but we'll meet up with that particular stretch of asphalt later.

In Tok I spent a while thinking hard thoughts about the bike—today it started some surging behavior at cruise and the chain isn't doing great either. Ah well, problems for tomorrow!
