Day 10 • Fairbanks • 41 mi
I'm solo.
Everything that happens from now on is my fault.
My mother had to return home, so now it's just me up here.
Today was (hopefully) the last chore day for a while. I took the bike in for service, got bolts to lock the hard cases on, set up some safety communication, and did some chain maintenance.
Juicy.
I ended up going to a coffee shop and meeting Craig, a 67-year old biker soloing AK on his R1200GS (iirc) from his home in Wisconsin. Craig is great. He's also waiting for some parts to come in to restore his bike after a moose ran him off the road at 60 MPH. We talked for a few hours about riding, roads, and life.
And now I'm staying in an AirBNB yurt at a sled dog yard. Life is great.
Total mileage: 41 mi

Bonus: you know how you can tell if it's a real Alaskan car? It'll have a mains plug hanging out the front:
