Day 4 • Homer to Girdwood • 193 mi

After the bear adventure, we needed to plan our next moves. This took slightly longer than expected, but at 2pm we managed to get the kickstand up.

The skies were beautiful coming out of Homer, but so was everything else.

About 80mi out of Homer, things got a little cold and rainy: 51° F and light to medium sprinkles. The Aerostich, gloves, and boots all did their job perfectly, though; I was bone-dry all day.

On a tip from another rider, we stopped at Suzie's in Sterling to wait out the rain. If you're ever on Alaska Highway 1, do yourself a favor and drop by.

We probably saw an osprey!

The rivers up here run fast and wide. No wonder you're not supposed to cross them without training...

Near the Hwy 1/Hwy 3 intersection, there's a river/lake. What do we do with river/lakes? Pictures, of course!

A little rain is a small price for gorgeous skies.

It's true: up here the seasons are winter and construction. Never let it be said, though, that Alaska DOT does not care:

On the way to Girdwood, I got so excited about clouds over the inlet that I completely didn't notice the turnout. No photo :(

But in Girdwood we did find the cutest municipal campground:

Adorable!
