Day 19 • Whitehorse to Whitehorse • 130 mi

What is an adventure without danger? What is traveling without setbacks? What is character without adversity?

That is to say, the bike experienced total power failure about 80 mi out of Whitehorse. While cruising at 90 KMPH, suddenly I'm fully engine-braking.

Thus begins my 4-hour side-of-the-road residency.

We're still not sure what's wrong. The air filter was... in real poor shape due to negligence, so I'm hoping it was just that. Have you ever tried to clean and dry an air filter on the side of the road in the rain? Don't.

With the help of a very nice mechanic and his son who stopped, we checked the fuel flow at the petcock, drained the carburetor, and replaced the spark plug with my spare.

The plug looks a little unideal, but shouldn't have caused this problem.

The bike did have the good sense to have a problem just outside of the largest city for 900 mi, so I limped back to Whitehorse. I'll try to find a mechanic Monday morning to take a look.

Roads sure were pretty, though.
